Under Swasthavritta it teaches daily and seasonal routine which includes diets and the range of physical activities. People in olden time used Ayurveda – the only healthcare system available and attained good health. Ayurveda, being the most scientific of all traditional systems has to have its rightful place. .The notion of lifelong health although implicit in the philosophy of Ayurveda is a new concept in modern heathcare and stands out as a very thoughtful application of Ayurveda and other Indian Systems of health care.
Keeping this in view , Deendayal Research Institute established Arogyadham in Chitrakoot located in Satna district of M.P. and at Jaiprabhagram in district Gonda (U.P.) The objective of Arogyadham is to demonstrate a healthcare strategy based on Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy for attaining lifelong health
The key to lifelong health lies in maintaining a subtle balance between body, mind, intellect and soul — the four aspects of human life. To achieve this, it is important to establish a model that puts this theory into practice. Objectives of Arogyadham:

 Clinical: Nidan Sadan (Out Patients Department) Swasthya Sadan (In Patients Department) Dental Department Rural Health Department Matra Sadan (Maternity ward) Yoga Sadan (Yoga & Naturopathy dept.) Non-Clinical:Ayurveda Sadan (Research Laboratories) Herbal Garden Landscaping Library Ahar Vihar Sadan (Dietatic unit) Nidan Sadan (OPD):The patients coming to OPD are being treated solely through Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, but the diagnosis is carried out using both, Ayurvedic and modern allopathic techniques. The physicians working here also give tips on Swasthavritta that includes ritucharya and dincharya as described in classical books to the patients. The activities performed by the Out Door Patient Department during the year under report are as:  Dadi Ma Ka Batua(Swasthya Parayan Prakalp) This is the unique intervention of our Institute that provides proper medical care to the villagers deprived of any medical facilities, The intervention consists of a medicinal kit, called "Dadi maa ka Batua", containing 34 Ayurvedic medicines prepared of locally available herbs. One person in every village has been trained in using this kit for the treatment of common ailments. People living in the villages have been benefited from the kit and they are happy about it, as the medical care is now available at their door steps. The department of Swasthya Parayan Parkalp organized health awareness and treatment camps in Chitrakoot area. The Medical Facilities provided in the camps are given below Ayurvedic treatment & consultancy Dental treatment & Consultancy Spirotometery Naturopathy treatment & Cunsultancy Yoga treatment & consultancy Blood & urine examination Dispense of Ayurvedic Medicines on subsidized rate  Activities undertaken by Swasthya Parayan Prakalp to achieve the Objectives: During the year 2010-11, 3203 patients were treated by Swasthya Parayan Prakalp through Dadi Maa Ka Batua kit in villages around Chitrakoot. Besides, 43 health gosthies were also organized to create awareness about the common diseases and their root causes. Yoga & Naturopathy Centre (Yoga Vigyan Sadan): Yogic treatment is becoming more and more popular throughout the world. Most people follow only the physical exercises, the Asanas. These exercises are only a part of Yoga, and not the complete process. Asanas by themselves cannot ensure lifelong health. Pranayama and Dhyana (Meditation) has to be practiced along with Asanas for lifelong health. Arogyadham provides this integrated form of Yoga therapy along with Naturopathy. Naturopathy starts with the purification of the body. A process, described as Panchkarma, and the cleaning process of Naturopathy, have been clubbed together in this department.  Dental Department: The Dental Department of Arogyadam has gained confidence of the people of the region due to state of art equipments, world class treatment and above all self less service of the staff. There were no dental facilities in adjoining areas of Chitrakoot prior to the opening of dental unit in Arogyadham. Prior to the establishment of DRI Dental unit, the nearest centres for dental facilities were located at Satna and Allahabad where most of the villagers were unable to go as they can't afford the expanses of traveling just leave alone the costly charges of private dental practice. Dental unit was set up in April 2000, to treat dental patients as well as to spread knowledge of dental care and hygiene in villages located close to Chitrakoot. The dental department is rendering its selfless services to the person standing in the last strata of society with dedication and excellence. services in the region.At present Dental unit has 3 dental surgeries, an X-ray unit and a dental laboratory at Arogyadham.Nanaji Desmukh during his visit to the U.K. in 1998 asked Dr Naresh Sharma to set up dental Department with all kinds of required facilites. .Dr. Naresh Sharma has made tremendous efforts to set up this world class facility at Chitrakoot. He not only provided the Dental care treatment facility at Chitrakoot but also organized fund raising events in the UK under the SEWA international charity. Enough money was raised to equip two identical surgeries with state of the art Kavo equipment from Germany. Three full-time dentists along with three dental nurses work in the surgeries at Arogyadham dental unit. Additionally many UK dentists also visit the dental unit to work and provide expert treatment and training for the dentists.  Maternity & Pediatric Center (Matru Sadan): Children are born in every village. This process is as old as life itself, and will continue as long as there is life on earth. But no improvement has been made in obstetrics in the countryside till today. As a result of this callous negligence, lakhs of new-born babies and pregnant women die every year. The Government has been unable to tackle this widespread problem. There are two basic tasks involved during childbirth. One involves cutting the umbilical cord, and the other is caring for the mother. For both these tasks, the traditional village midwives are ill-trained. The instruments used to cut the umbilical cord are often not sterilized, and many infants suffer from tetanus and other ailments as a consequence. Also, the mother is not cared for adequately or hygienically. The Maternity & Pediatric Center act as a hospital for the care of pregnant women, with an operating theatre for Cesarean operations, where necessary, and also have an intensive neo-natal care centre. It also act as the focal point of a ‘Midwifery Training Programme’ that will be conducted in the 500 villages in the Chitrakoot Project, and provide the necessary tools for the implementation of the programme.
